What is the Porsche Taycan Release Date?

The first ever all-electric Porsche will arrive in our Farmington Hills area showroom near the end of 2019. The 2020 Porsche Taycan is one of the most eagerly anticipated Porsche vehicles, and here at Fred Lavery Porsche Company we can hardly wait to get behind the wheel. What is the Porsche Taycan?

The Porsche Taycan is an all-electric sport sedan based upon the Mission E concept that was originally unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The name “Taycan” is a Eurasian word that means “a lively young horse”. An apt choice, given the athletic styling and outstanding performance capabilities of this luxury performance EV. It bears the classic sleek and sporty Porsche design, with some futuristic touches. Suffice it to say, the Taycan looks as just dynamic as it performs.

What Are the Porsche Taycan Performance Specs?

All the details aren’t in at the moment, but it is reported that the Taycan will be offered with three different powertrain options, delivering 402 hp, 536 hp, and 670 hp respectively. It will also feature magnetic synchronous electric motors at the front and rear axles for all-wheel drive. Porsche says that the Taycan will go 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, and reach 124 mph in under 12 seconds. Other electric powertrain features will include:

  • 800-volt fast charging, with 60 miles of charge in 4 minutes, and 120 miles of charge in 15 minutes
  • Porsche will offer a network of 500 fast chargers at Porsche dealerships and highway locations across the country
  • There should be two battery packs offered – an 80 kWh and a 95 kWh – and the car will be equipped with a battery cooling system

How Many Different Taycan Models Will Be Offered?

We expect that the Taycan will follow suit with the models offered on other Porsche models, which means that we may likely see a Taycan S or a Taycan GTS. Porsche has recently announced that there will also be a Taycan Cross Turismo, a wagon version of the sedan that will also be released at the end of 2019. The Turismo model should be a popular option for many Rochester Hills area drivers.
