How to Store a Porsche for Winter

Porsche Winter Storage

If you’re a Birmingham driver who has a Porsche, you’ve moved up to the upper level of car buyers. You’ve got a sporty, vivacious vehicle that’s ready for action in any weather. However, with the switch to winter weather comes the need for winter tires. What will you do then? If you’re not willing to make the switch to winter tires or just want to minimize the probability of an accident, Porsche winter storage is a great option you should consider. Let Fred Lavery Porsche Company be your guide to how to prep your Porsche for winter.

Why Store My Vehicle?

A Porsche is a luxurious, powerful machine, and by all means, it’s ready for winter in Rochester Hills. However, to reduce the probability of an accident, you’ll want to switch to winter tires to provide superior traction. This is not the toughest process to do at home, but if you don’t have the know-how or just don’t have the time to do it, Porsche winter storage is a great option you can pursue.

Here’s a Checklist

  • Clean your Bloomfield Hills garage and get it ready for storage.
  • Thoroughly clean your Porsche inside and out, including the wheels.
  • Condition the rubber and plastic parts for storage.
  • Change your oil and oil filter.
  • Top off your fluids, not forgetting the antifreeze.
  • Double check the tire pressure and overinflate by 8 to 10 psi.
  • Fill the gas tank with premium gas.
  • Place carpet squares under the tires.
  • Close all air vents.
  • Cover the exhaust pipe.
  • Put silica gel packets in your Porsche to trap moisture and a container of baking soda to keep a fresh scent.
  • Connect the battery to a battery maintainer.
  • Place a piece of cloth between the wiper blades and windshield.
  • Roll the windows down slightly to let moisture get out.
  • Use a car cover over your car.
